We build these from browned butter, brown sugar, and eggs—honest pantry stuff, no mystery fillers. They bake up soft and chewy with an edge you can sink a tooth into. Out of the oven, a rich maple glaze goes on top while they’re still in their best moment; a sprinkle of flaky sea salt keeps everything bright, not candy-sweet. The kind of treat that’s an easy impulse—a gift box you almost keep, or a half-dozen that never makes it to the party.

- Package labels: preparer name and registration number or address; date; ingredients and allergens; inspection statement.
- In-person sales: legible sign with the same inspection statement.
- Direct sales: events, markets, home where allowed, or internet with delivery by the preparer when applicable.
- Registration & training per commissioner rules and fee tiers.
- Sales cap: up to $78,000 gross receipts per calendar year for exempt cottage sales.
